Jim, plasma cutting knife blanks from an old saw blade. All knife blanks are cut from the raw materials, either L-6 steel (old saw blades) or 440-C stainless steel. Like most of the equipment at Siggma, the panograph plasma cutting set up is home made by Jim.

After plasma cutting, the L-6 knife blanks are annealed (softened) in the furnace, allowed to cool. William Yazzie is grinding the final profile down to the scribe lines. All 440-C stainless steel is ordered in the annealed state from the steel supplier in Illinois. The entire knife grinding operation is done on a belt sander built by Jim over 20 years ago.
